Restaurant Chez André is one of those enduring local diners that’s managed to keep its character through decades, tucked right on Bd Marie-Victorin in Longueuil. It wears its history proudly — the space is cozy and a bit snug, the kind of spot where you might overhear neighbors chatting at the next table or catch a regular waving hello. This good-natured, slightly no-frills atmosphere fits the kind of diner that’s been part of the community for generations.

Many come here looking for straightforward, comforting fast food and breakfast fare served any time of day. The all-day breakfast option, especially, seems to be a highlight, offering that classic diner convenience of eggs, bacon, and hearty breakfast potatoes whenever hunger strikes. Beyond breakfast, the menu is impressively broad — from burgers and fried chicken to gyros and even pizza and poutine. It’s the kind of place that satisfies cravings for familiar, satisfying diner staples without fuss.

The place is known for cleanliness and polite staff, keeping things accessible whether you’re popping in for a quick solo meal, gathering with family, or grabbing takeout. Portions are generous and prices reasonable, which keeps regulars coming back, including families with kids and longtime locals. While busy times can stretch wait times, most visitors appreciate the friendly, patient service—it feels like a diner that knows its crowd and keeps things moving at its own pace.

If you’re after a fast food spot that leans into the tradition of the classic local diner experience — where repeat visits make you feel a little more rooted in the community — Chez André delivers. It’s best visited in a casual mood, ready to settle into a humble booth and enjoy no-nonsense comfort food that’s reliably good.

My childhood Chez André Snack Bar! I have known this place since being a babe in nappies (I'm touching 50). It's cramped AF but that's a good sign. I've lived pretty much everywhere in this country and André is my standard when it comes to diner food.

2024: I go here more often now. I've taken friends and family, nephews are a fan of the fried chicken. It's just a great local diner and one of very few independent ones left. For me, the breakfasts are the winner. I love a place you can have an all-day breakfast. 2017: They keep closing all the small local diners - and you need a good local diner! This place is a classic greasy spoon, great for weekend breakfast. I've only ever had breakfast food here, so I can't speak to the huge lunch menu they have (subs, burgers, Italian, fried chicken). Service is really fast, and the place is run very efficiently (since the space is quite small). Good and affordable. Filled with seniors and truckers - a great sign in my book.

Supporting local businesses is easy when they are as charming as this spot. I've been here for breakfast and lunch, dine in and take out, and I am never disappointed. Service is efficient and friendly. Food is great. Portions are generous. Prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Saw a fellow Torontonian review who rated highly on this restaurant during his visit to Montreal. So we gave it a try without much hesitations. This is a cozy and friendly restaurant. We were greeted with a great smile by the server. Having known we don't speak much French, she shifted the channel immediately. She patiently explained the menu (which is in French) and helped us with the order. The dishes served were very delicious and big in portion. Choices are many, and they have photos to go along. No worries. Highly recommended!

In the area for business I felt like a sandwich for lunch. Open up the Google app and discovered this gem of a diner. These places are hidden treasures. A relic of a forgone era of diner food that is simple, comfort craving and delicious. Decided to go with a club sandwich to go. It was served in a box with a heaping serving of fries on top and a ginger ale. Around $22 with tax and tip. The prices have gone up but the food was awesome.

This is a wonderful little place that seems to have a huge amount of local repeat customers. We don't speak French, so we had to use google to translate. Our server apparently wasn't as fluent with English as she wanted to be, so she asked another server to help taking the orders. They were both wonderful with us. The food was out quickly, despite a fair about if customers at the time. I loved the poutine I had, and my wife loved her did as well. The servngs are quite large, so we were glad we didn't get the larger sizes. I can only say that I wish this place were near our home. We would become regulars.
